Hi, my family is planning a trip in summer 2022. Since Eurail pass has 11 months after purchase to activate, can I buy a 10 days 2 months pass now (July 18 2021) and activate before June 18 2022 and use the pass till Aug 17, 2022?

Correct thats an option but you may wait for a Promotional offer (usually after summer, Christmas/New year and sometimes in spring 
)
Promotions can be a discount or a free upgrade for first class 
and some other options
I would purchase the Eurailpass atleast 1month before you trip starts (enough time to wait for a promotion offer )
Thanks Seewulf. Currently the special is upgrade to Plus. Sounds like better promotions may be available given we have lots of time before our planned trip.
Yeah the Plus is usually a good option especially if you buy Promotional passes
