I am planning on traveling from Como to Milan to Florence to Rome. Will a Eurail pass be more cost-efficient or should I purchase the individual tickets due to the reservation requirements on most of my train rides?

Como - Milan i recommend to use the cheap regional trains can be booked on the website of trenitalia
For the Routes Milan - Florence and Florence - Rome you can look for cheap fares of Trenitalia (La Freece) or Italo (NTV) both operate highspeed railservices and the prices are quite fair :)

Should be daft easy to make out yourself: a EUrail pass is for at least 3 or 4 days, so for just 2 trips it will not be worth the money. But I guess you do not come falling from the sky into Como, so there may be more traintrips to make?

Com-Mil: just buy when there from machine, there are also cheaper combo with urban transportation inside Milano, I guess you may want to stay there some time?
