Hello All,

I would like to travel with my younger sister (she is a little older than 15 years old) via interrail/eurail. She has a valid Schengen visa but originally lives in Istanbul, Turkey. I live with a residence permit in Germany (I am older than 18 years old). So I have a couple of questions:

  • Can my sister travel with me? Does she need any additional document? If there is any web link from interrail that explains the rules for the minors, I really appreciate it if you could share?
  • Per my understanding. I will be getting an interrail ticket for me, and one eurail ticket for her. Am I correct? And in that case will we still able to travel with the same trains?

InterRail as such has really nothing to do at all with visa/entry rules and all that. We-the regular contributors are all very much EUropean and do not have to bother with it. The only thing there is that as passes are personal they are thus linked to some ID that must e shown on demand from a conductor or controller.

You´d better use other sites more specialising in these questions.

There is just 1 thing: you did not read enough-again. TR people also use INTERRail-as TCDD is also very much in the system and this means she can use trains In TR-but only for the trip out and back in at the end-if she even thinks about doing that.

EUrail is for those from over the oceans.

Regarding travelling with a minor you need to check the regulations for the different railway companies that you plan to use.
