Hi !

I’m planning to go in Ireland in august with a friend and to travel by train. The question is : can we take any train in Ireland or is it restricted to some train companies or trains ?

Because we would like to go in small towns and countryside. Can we take little trains with the interrail ?

Thank you very much !!

:)

You need to look for information about what trains that are included in Ireland.

Okay thanks :)

In Republic there is just 1 comp-by the sate; Irish Rail (green, of course). All trains (NOT the TRAM that run in Dublin city) except passes.

In Ulster=North the ´comp´ (all owned by the state) is NIR. The trains Dub-Bel are run coöperative.

The network is rather sparse and in IE all lines run to/fro DUB only-not cross country.
