Hello, the inbound and outbound journeys are indeed taken into account when purchasing the Interrail pass. Based on your itinerary of Paris to Milan (Italy); Milan to Bari (Italy); Bari to Patras (Greece); Patras to Milan; Milan to Paris, it appears that you would need a 5 days within 1 month pass or a 3 days within 1 month pass.

The inbound outbound days are not extra days.

I can't answers your question about how many days because first on one day (midnight to midnight you can use soo many train as you can).

it depends if in the trip you change trains after midnight you need a new day.
