I am planning a trip from Italy.  I would like one of my destinations to be London, starting from Paris.  Do I need a passport for this transfer?

UK is no longer in the EU and was never part of Schengen, you need a passport.

UK do not accept ID Cards, only Passports.

For more information check the website of UK Goverment or the Italian website of travelling abroad. https://www.viaggiaresicuri.it/find-country/country/GBR

When it was in the EU-and for 1 yr after going out, it still took ID-but as the Brits do not have these and are extremely suspicious of anything that was not invented there they have stopped takign them last yr. Also from 1/1/23-if it goes to plan from now-there will also be extra checks (easy for EU-citizens) for going back from GB into EU.

Things like these are very easy to find in a few millisecs via google.

But that would mean you would be denied the opportunity to make one of your snide comments about people from other countries.
