So looking at a 10 day pass and i see the price should be the same for eurail or interrail, however one has 10% off and the other doesn't.

no on a 1st class for 2 over 10 days in two month the difference of 90 euros roughly.

we are UK residents and confused as hell as to which ones we can and cant book and that the price match appears to be untrue it worries us.

Looking at July to go away and there are a couple of over night travles where a sleeper seems like a good idea, what sort of cost can we expect on routes

route 1 Milan Central - Salerno

route 2 Roma Termini - Venice

Route 3 Venice - Vienna

what sort of facilities can we expect first or second class?

The Eurail promotion seems to continue to 10 April, whereas the Interrail promotion ended on 31 March.

But since you're from the UK, you live in Europe and don't qualify for Eurail.

For domestic night trains in Italy, the Interrail supplement can be more expensive than an advance fare, so check what's available on the Trenitalia website. Single and Double compartments are 1st class here, the rest is second class.

You can book the night train Venice - Vienna via ÖBB (using these steps); in this train, all comfort classes can be booked with a second class pass.

The /en/ site-known by about any more frequent trainrider, seat61.com has much info -even for very picky peoples- on what nighttrains offer per country and how it looks like.
