I want to go from Aachen to Paris Nord on 5 November but the b-europe website no longer offers 2nd class seats. Is it possible to take a 1st class ticket even if I have a 2nd class pass? The website doesn't forbid me from doing this, but I'm more worried about the ticket inspectors if I'm not allowed to do
No you can't. Staff could give you a hefty fine and/or ask you to leave the train.
The easy alternative is as follows :
- ICE Aachen Hbf - Bruxelles-Midi 3€ optional (but very recommended !) reservation through ÖBB
- Thalys Bruxelles-Midi - Paris-Nord 27€
If you'd like to save money you could do :
- Aachen - Brussels - Kortrijk - Lille + TGV to Paris 10-20€
- Aachen - Liège - ... - Charleroi - Maubeuge - Paris reservation-free
- via Luxembourg or Saarbrücken
Looks like a few routes are disrupted due to engineering works that weekend.
