Seat reservations

Hi everyone couple of questions about seat reservation.  First off due to the strike in France part of my journey tomorrow to Strasbourg was not going to be possible so I booked a reservation on a non stop service.  I am currently in Luxembourg and i dont have access to a printer where I’m staying the interail email says to print ticket.  However the ticket says print or show on mobile device.  My French isn’t very good but I was able to read that I also translated it to make sure.  Will i be allowed to board with my ticket on the phone or do i need to try and find somewhere to print the ticket?

 

Another question im trying to book a ticket through PKP website for Poland and its asking for my pass number it says please indicate the series and number of your ticket and if in doubt check the guide.  Ticket no.  when i look at the guide its showing me a picture of a qr code with a number underneath from what looks like the mobile pass.  I have a paper pass so im confused if its looking for the pass cover number or pass-/ID -NR does anyone know which number is correct?  Thanks for your help on this.

Nothing to worry, if the reservation is only on pdf. Most tickets and reservations are now digital anyway with SNCF. You have a reservation, and you can show it.

It’s only recommended to print out your reservation for night trains, since the attendant usually takes that for the duration of the journey.

For which train on which date you are looking to book seats at the PKP website?

You should also be able to import the ticket into the SNCF Connect app and thereby be able to show it easily in a mobile format. A PDF is however also generally okay, so don't worry about it if that's too much of a fuss.

If you want to print it: in Luxembourg's main station there is a SNCF ticket machine, located in the corridor parallel to track 3 heading from the main hall towards track 1 and 2. 

In this machine you can print your reservations (unless it has run out of paper) and you can make domestic French reservations with no booking fee.

(Unfortunately, last time I tried it wasn't possible to make reservations on it for Luxembourg-France TGV's, but it should be able to print them. Alternatively, head to the CFL international ticket office, they have access to the SNCF system and might be able to print it too.)

However, as said above: there really is no need other than your piece of mind (and if you have a mobile pass you have to keep your phone alive anyway).

Used this machine last yr-sept and then it did NOT offer any print anymore-my booking I did there (for 2 domestic TGV in FR for later in the trip) where sent as @mail-you had to give all details for that. This was quite a surprise for me and it seems, when checking later whilst in FR this is now kind of policy for all SNCF-machines. IF one insist on printed RES one has to go to a counter and let them do it for you.

Would welcome any updates on this and/or confirmation.

Also there are no non-stop trains Lux-Strasbg, non stop is different from direct (means no change, but with intermediate stops) and I guess these are just normal SNCF trains-so can also be subject to the so frequently erupting wrath of the jolly socialist workers in their unions.

You can do it via Germany-via Trier-KOblenz-Mainz or Trier-Saarbrucken-Mannehim, but shell out 5€-pay driver, for the direct express bus to Saarbrucken for quicker trip

It's certainly not a policy. I used a machine in Paris to buy seat reservations last month and got tickets printed without problems. I can imagine getting the paper refilled in Luxembourg can be a bit of a logistical challenge for SNCF though.

This policy wouldn't make sense either, as there still are some rare SNCF tickets that can be booked online but need to be physically collected from a ticket machine (or office).

Last summer I made 2 reservations on SNCF ticket machines for TER trains in Normandy. One was printed and the other one wasn't. IIRC, the reservation was not printed when I entered my SNCF account details.
