Before I can choose which pass I need to buy, I was wondering if the first travel from your home country to the first city and the travel back to your home country counts as traveling days. In other words, if I want to visit 5 cities, do I need the pass for 5 traveling days or the pass for 7 traveling days?

You need a pass for 7 travelling days to visit 6 cities and go back home again.

With a Global Pass on 2 of your pass days (not extra days) you can take as many trains as you'd like in your country of residence.
