I am going to travel London, Manchester, Bruxelles, Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome.

I have bought the Global EU Rail Pass which state that can travel 33 countries.

May I ask if I can use it for the transportation ( metro/ train / tram) within each city?

As my friend’s experience, it is valid for London’s metro. However, I am not sure if it is valid for the other cities. If it doesn’t work, May I ask any other pass or how should I get the ticket for each cities?🙏🏻

Also, if it works, May I ask do I need to buy the tickets in the station? Or I can scan any code to enter the station?

thanks a lot.

Generally no. It’s not valid on city transport.

In London, you can use it on Overground, Elizabeth Line and Thameslink, along with the rest of the National Rail lines, but not the Tube or trams.

In Brussels, there are some useful trains that operate Brussels Zuid - Centraal - Noord, which can be good for getting across the city. It’s not valid on the Metro.

Thanks for your information!

So May I ask is there any other metro pass or transportation pass that you suggest me to buy when I travelling within those cities according to your experience?🙏🏻 As this is the first time for me to travel around euro and I am not sure how to pay the fare🥲

Sure. London is easy, just use your contactless debit / credit card/ Apple Pay to tap on and off the tube, and to tap on the bus. It will charge at the end of the day for the cheapest combination of tickets. “Fare-capping.” https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/how-to-pay-and-where-to-buy-tickets-and-oyster/pay-as-you-go

Manchester, you can do the same on the Metrolink (tram), but buses don’t yet take part in fare capping (although you can pay by card onboard usually), so you might want to buy a local day ticket. https://tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes

There’s also a free city centre shuttle bus https://tfgm.com/public-transport/bus/free-bus

Rome, the same. Tap and go works on the Metro and some buses (maybe all buses now?).

Paris, you probably have to buy a Carte Navigo from a machine or ticket office, and load it with credit. Then you can tap at the gates. on the Metro or when boarding a bus

Venice is expensive for the vaporetti. Try to limit your use of them. Or choose one day to go exploring by vaporetto, and buy a day ticket. You can cross the Grand Canal for €2 cash in a little gondola - traghetto.

For Paris, you can now tap in and out with your phone, using the SNCF Connect app.

Thanks for all information 💕💕💕
