Trenitalia pass

Question

I have a question about the trenitalia railpass.

I need some clarification about the word “journey” since the pass counts the numbers of journeys and not days.

I am planning a Veniz- Palermo trip. which will have a Veniz to Rome via the high speed train and then night train for the Rome-Palermo leg.

Is the total journey gonna be 1 (Veniz-Palermo) or 2 (Veniz- Rome and Rome-Palermo)?
