Thanks so much for your replies , there are 5 of us travelling 3 kids 2 adults & i have an illness/disability , if i was travelling on my own & was younger etc I'd just wing it .…but an etc night in London or Cardiff for 5 of us , getting to the accommodation etc & then extra long journey time the next day will really take it out of me & the costs will just escalate even more, we've prebooked a taxi that we can cancel if the strikes get called off , it was £550 😔 and went on the emergency credit card , we will have to see if we can claim on our travel insurance, and I fully intend to make a claim against the rail company, a 1 day strike I can understand but not from 2nd January to the 7th /8th with no option for people to get home especially when we live so far away .We live and learn x
Our Eurostar gets into London at 16.39 .…Unfortunately Cardiff is still quite far from Carmarthen
We've checked on all possible carriers and there's no trains coming for Wales until Sunday 8th January
Thanks , I booked him on a flight from Paris to London £45 on the 28th , this was the cheapest option & at least he'll be home in time for work etc
OK many thanks I'll look into that , another option is a flight from Brussels or Cologne to Bristol
Thankyou unfortunately he has to be back home no later than December 29th
He's struggling to get a connection from Colmar to Paris
The only dates free are 30th December train from brussels which is too late, and any earlier than the 27th is no good as he's on holiday with us for Christmas, thanks for trying though ,
Hi there thanks so much , I tried the paris to karlsruhe yesterday and no joy , but tonight after you messaged it worked !! Pheeeew thankyou so much , that's one part of our journey sorted , I'm very relieved ! As for the rest of the journey I'll keep checking especially from Nov 9th as you suggested!
Paris to Colmar December 22nd at 10.55Colmar to Paris December 28th ( my oldest son is going home on this date ) & Ringsheim to Paris January 4th 8.33 am onwards I've checked carriers website and it's showing as booking not possible
I think it's an issue with alot of journeys via strasbourg as we're having problems with our return journey too
I'm gutted they had seats available this morning and when I went back to book they were sold out , I'll book on the later one , thanks anyway
Thankyou so much for all your really helpful replies . It's my first time interrailing & I'm travelling with my partner & 4 children , so I've been keen to get everything booked especially as it's so near to Christmas etc but I can see now I've got plenty of time to sort it all out , I've booked the Eurostar tickets so that's the most important thing out of the way x
