My Son is joining us on a trip , he's just started a new job and has to change the dates he travels back , the journey is from Colmar to Carmarthen on December 28th & we  can't find any available reservations or on the 27th & 29th ,  & he can't afford to pay for a full price eurostar ticket,  any other suggestions?

Did you try: https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Booking/Pass#TravelWish? Click earlier or later date, to find the next free seats.

It are holidays, so it could be fully booked on those days. Gonna check which dates are still free.

Still free seats on these (Paris-London), but I also don’t find later dates. I Only find one train left on the 31st of december:

Perhaps try to book from Lille-Europe?

The only dates free are 30th December  train from brussels which is too late,  and any earlier than the 27th is no good as he's on holiday with us for Christmas,  thanks for trying though ,

I found some seats from: Lille Europe on the 30th:

But looks that it are busy travel days.

Some ferries around noon in Calais take foot passengers, for about the same price as eurostar reservations. Perhaps that’s an option?

Then he might want to take a bus from Lille or Paris to London, there are quite some. Guess trains from Colmar to Lille are not really a problem.

As an alternative check Ryanair from France to UK (e.g. Manchester has rail station with contacts to Wales.

If that’s not an option, a full fare ticket Lille-London, probably will be better priced than Paris-London.

Busy days, those dates. It’s always wise to plan very much in advance.

You can also check the overnight ferries Rotterdam-Harwich if you go for the less CO2 option. Bit of a detour, but you might be able to still reserve that.

Correct but only £5 cheaper - £160 v £165 are cheapest fares on E* site.

Actually @Elbows and Crumbs there's a flash sale of SNCF. Ordinary tickets on Eurostar for 29 euro.

https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/train/deals/france-europe, still 12 hours to book!

EDIT: although they might’ve run out of cheap tickets already, don’t seem to find any reasonably priced for you travel wishes. 🙄 You might need to puzzle a bit around with departure locations (Lille/Brussels/Paris).
