Yes I can find these trains but I am unsure if I can use them with my pass? If I type in Como Lago in the Rail Planner app it tells me there are no routes that match my search. If I type in Como San Giovanni it says seat reservations required. I’m sorry but this whole system confuses me so much! It says I can add a trip manually but I don’t know what this means?
Thank you so much for all of your help!
Our friend said she can meet us at Aix-en-Provence Ville!! So we should use your first schedule?
I have asked my friend if they could pick us up from Aix-en-Provence Ville instead! We will see what they say! So with your schedule, we would only need to reserve seats from Milan to Ventimiglia? Is that correct? The rest of the trains we just go to the platform and hop on with our rail pass? And could we do this trip earlier? Say leaving at 6/6:30am?
We are meeting friends and that is the station they have told us to go to!
IC and High speed trains in Italy have mandatory reservations. On this line easy to avoid and not needed if you switch to a regional train in Domodossola. Tip: if you want to see the best views, best take the old (slower) Gotthard line via Airolo, instead of the long and boring base tunnel :) (Go to the travel planner of www.bahn.com , go to further options and add a stopover at Airolo - add 0:00 for transfer time needed to plan this) Thank you so much for your help!
You can take the Frecciarossa high-speed trains for 13€, the journey takes 2h27 to Venezia S. Lucia (1 train per hour usually). There are also reservation-free regional trains but they would take too long for a day trip frankly. Seat reservations are best bought on tickets.oebb.at (no booking fee) : add Interrail/Eurail as a discount and select one-way tickets. Click on the 13€ box of the chosen train and select 1st class. thank you so much for your help!!!
Oh my goodness thankyou thankoyou thankyou! All of your information has been so very helpful! I cannot thankyou enough! I am much clearer now on how it works! Many thanks from Down Under 😀
Thankyou so so so so much for your fast reply! AMAZING! I looked at this site and think that I can do this! I am so confused as to why on the Rail Planner App, Charles de Gaulle TGV station does not even come up as an option to travel from? I thought that I had to book all of my reservations through this app? But I can use this site that you recommend to make my reservations? Also do you think we would have enough time to make the 08:59 train? We will be arriving from International and will have to collect luggage etc.
