Budapest Nyugati to Prague Hlavni Nadrazi train is missing after app update

Hello,

Next Monday, 18th July, I was taking the Eurocity train from Budapest to Prague at 11:40, and I already had the seat reservation because ir was obligatory according to the app. However, after the last update of the app, this train is missing. Why is that, and what do I have to do to travel that day from Budapest to Prague taking into account I already paid for ir?

The Interrail app runs offline based on a downloaded data set so is not always 100% accurate.

It is better to use the websites or apps of the train operators or the likes of DB and OBB who have accurate data for much of Europe

Looking at this, it appears that there is disruption on that route, the trains towards Prague over the next few weeks are only running from Szob.

The planner gives a departure from Budapest-Nyugati at 11.08 to Nagymaros on regional service R 2324 with a rail replacement bus for about 20 minutes from there to Szob, with your booked train resuming it’s normal times from there.

Your res will be valid on the same train, the connecting train and replacemnt bus are not reservable.

 

There is an alternative from Budapest-Keleti at 11.30 with a change in Vienna.

As much as I love a printed timetable, they should not be relied upon on their own. As I already stated those trains are listed as not running south of Szob at present.

SOME-but apparently not this one, are rerouted via another route-and may even start from keleti=the other ´mian´ station in Bp. THis indeed due to landslide destroying the tracks aloing river Dunav north of Bp. As has even been explained here in separate topic just after it happened.

Again a case that shows do not trust this app as it gets updates not often-use another, that of bahm.com is usually widest ranging and also shows clearly if RES is mandatory or optional

Thank you very much. I've seen the first train arrives at 11:50 to Nagymaros, and the bus leaves at 12:00. Is it enough time to do the chance or is it too risky? And the same with the 9 minute chance in Szob.

Well it is a connection into the EC to Prague, you certainly won’t be the only one on it looking to make the connections.

It will be straight off the train in a small rural station, straight onto waiting buse(s) and the reverse at Szob.

In the unlikely event that the train and bus loses 20 minutes then I would fully expect them to hold the train for the passengers.
