Ok.  Let me start by saying that I am completely lost and am not an idiot... really I'm not!  I'm leaving on the 14th to go to Europe... this is a life long dream finally coming true now with my honeymoon!!! I plan on visiting as many places/countries as I can!!  I purchased a global pass. I used rail planner and have successfully saved my trip for me and my soon husband. I have the 5 days saved and show the tickets for those days when clicking on them.

But as you can see it states seat reservations required.   (Side question... so what is the purpose of global pass 1st class? You still have to buy tickets "to reserve" on top of that? What's the reason to have pass?? Feels like I've been totally ripped off!!)

When i try to make reservations via link, it says i have to create trip.... AGAIN. So... I go to  create the new trip and add traveler and get this:

Like I said I'm at a complete loss and so upset... how do I move forward???  PLEASE HELP!!!!

Unfortunately there are no Eurostar pass fares left for the 17th, closest is 18.01, 19.01, 20.01 on Monday 18th. Pass booking is €38 Standard Premier, no economy left.

There are spaces left to Lille or Brussles on Sunday 17th on the 09.01 and 13.01 departures.

You can book these on SNCB site using this link:https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Booking/Pass#TravelWish

If you have a mobile pass you will need a pass cover number, get that here: https://www.interrail.eu/en/book-reservations#/generatePassCoverNumber

If you chose to go to Lille/Brussles you will also need to get onward travel, local non-reservation trains to Paris are possible but the connections are quite slow.

To answer your question about why use a pass, the eurostar fare without a pass for those trains on 18th are €155 Economy, €172 Standard Premier.

For Sunday 17th the cheapest available fares are €195 on the 20.31 departure in Economy, €255 in SP at 13.31, 19.01, 20.01 or €276 in Business Premier available on all departures.

Interrail has flat reservation rate but availability goes once the trains fill up.

Denise, next time you buy something read before how it works. The Eurail Website says clearly that some trains need a reservation to enter the train. 1st or 2nd class is not a difference, sometimes you have to pay more for first class reservations having a 1st class pass (wich is your Ticket).

For your journey from London to Paris, you have entered your trip in the pass, so you have the Ticket, but Eurostar needs a reservation on top. The app only gets you to the eurail.com website, because Pass(=Ticket) is separate from the reservation system. You can use directly the eurail.com reservation service or get a Cover Number from here: Pass Cover Number generator is live | Community (eurail.com) and go to the Website of B-Europe where you can also buy reservations for Eurostar.

Please note, that Eurostar can be easily be full for Pass users. Also do not forget to cancel the trip or to change train or date on the railplanner app if you take another train than this what you have chosen.

For further questions, don’t hesitate to ask here.

Please read the advice below. Delete your travel days and deactivate your pass until just before boarding your first train.

Here is some useful information from the experienced travellers in the Community regarding both planning, reservations and activation of pass and travel days.

Planning

The rail planner is normally not up to date, as it only is updated once a month, so to be sure of the time table you better check the timetable and availability on the websites of the national railways. The bigger national railways, like DB (Germany) SBB (Switzerland) and ÖBB (Austria) cover several countries.

Reservations

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is to use other ways to make reservations than the Interrail/Eurail website.  You can look at the guide in the link:

https://community.eurail.com/train-connections-reservations-47/how-to-get-reservations-105

If you, after having looked at the guide, have questions about how to make specific reservation, please give your travel details (departure date, time and route) preferably in a new topic, and you will get advice.

Please note that Interrail/Eurail charges an extra fee of 2 EUR per person and ticket in addition to the fee for the seat reservation.

Activation of pass

During the activation process, when you choose the start day of the validity of the pass, the first day of the validity period is automatically made a travel day, even if you don't enter a journey, the advice is therefore not to activate the pass before the first travel day as you only can deactivate the pass before 00.00 on the day the validity starts. If your travel plans change in the last moment you will loose travel days if you have activated the pass in advance.

It can be wise to make a test and activate the pass with a start date well in the future and then deactivate the pass immediately, just to see that everything works.

 Activation of travel day

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is also never to activate a travel day, that is connect a journey to your pass, until just before boarding the train, otherwise you might loose a travel day if your travel plans change in a late stage  You can't delete a travel day in the past. A travel day can only be deleted until 23.59 CET the day before the travel day.
