Cologne to Krakow - train times on web and app are different

Hi,

 

I just posted a topic as the trains times available on the interrail website are different from those available on the app.

 

For instance, I would like to book (and find out about reservations for):

Cologne - Krakow (Monday 5th of September) - 06:17 - 18:10 (reservations needed from Berlin-Krakow)

 

However, this is not shown on the app. So how would i show the train ticket collector that I have a reservation? Or is that only for the first day of travel? After that do I just show the QR code?

 

The only journeys available on the app are night trains.

The app runs offline and is only updated every so often, the likes of bahn.com will always be more accurate, it is best not to rely on the app for planning.

 

Chances are the app will show the trains you want eventually, if by the time of departure it still doesn’t show you can always add any journey manually.

So do i need to book on the app?

You don’t “book” anything on the app, you just add the trains you are going to take as part of the ticket. This need not be done until just before boarding as outlined in the previous thread response by @AnnaB 

 

Any reservations required or wanted must be done separately, either through interrail website or other options described here

 

So, the trains will definitely be shown on the app at some point. As the website is so different from the app my worry is I’ll turn up for a train that I have seen on the website and I wont be able to find it on the app

Also I have gone onto www.bahn and it says reservations not possible. On @AnnaB thread she said if I told you the train times I could get help with the reservations as it seems impossible to reserve anything through the interrail site, as previously stated.

You should look for the train at the websites of the national railways companies and not in the app/planner of Interrail/Eurail. Please read more about that below. 

If the train you want to take still is missing in the app when you are about to board the train, then you need to add the train (journey) manually to your Trip.

 

Here is some useful information from the experienced travellers in the Community regarding both planning, reservations and activation of pass and travel days. 

 Planning

The rail planner is normally not up to date, as it only is updated once a month, so to be sure of the time table you better check the timetable and availability on the websites of the national railways. The bigger national railways, like DB (Germany) SBB (Switzerland) and ÖBB (Austria) cover several countries. 

 Reservations 

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is to use other ways to make reservations than the Interrail/Eurail website.  You can look at the guide in the link:

If you, after having looked at the guide, have questions about how to make specific reservation, please give your travel details (departure date, time and route) preferably in a new topic, and you will get advice.

Please note that Interrail/Eurail charges an extra fee of 2 EUR per person and train in addition to the fee for the seat reservation.

 Activation of pass

During the activation process, when you choose the start day of the validity of the pass, the first day of the validity period is automatically made a travel day, even if you don't enter a journey, the advice is therefore not to activate the pass before the first travel day as you only can deactivate the pass before 00.00 on the day the validity starts. If your travel plans change in the last moment you will loose travel days if you have activated the pass in advance.

It can be wise to make a test and activate the pass with a start date well in the future and then deactivate the pass immediately, just to see that everything works.

 Activation of travel day

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is also never to activate a travel day, that is connect a journey to your pass, until just before boarding the train, otherwise you might loose a travel day if your travel plans change in a late stage  You can't delete a travel day in the past. A travel day can only be deleted until 23.59 CET the day before the travel day.

You did NOT read that linked post above. Young people nowadays seem to think every+each is on their fone-it is NOT. For the DIRect fast trains DE→ PL, these are global priced, you have to visit a real working person in a german reisecenter from DB. Otherwise anyone would just buy only the RES and not the ticket. IF they tell you ´alas full´ check other timings-maybe with the odd change-or jump over the Odra/Oder river border-bridge on a local train.

Also-just 1 hr ago it was reported that last month the delay factor on DB trains had again risen-less as half its trains are on time-and missing tight connections is the order of the day. As I am now also in DE-on the ultra cheap ticket- yesterday I saw delays posted of 198, 170, +200 mins and also many trains cancelled. Just to let you know…….

I did look look at the link. I’m doing this for the first time and due the esoteric nature of of the interrail booking system it is very confusing. On top of this the the interrail customer service team consists of a bot and the interrail reservation system is a joke as there are so few trains that you can book reservations on.

 

I’ll ask at station then and thanks for the advice, you’re very……..
