I am in Sofia but have to be in Zurich in a few days. Our last stop would be Prague. What are the direct trains (smart routes). Mine would be: Sofia ➡️ Bucharest ➡️ Budapest ➡️ Prague

I’d recommend Sofia->Vidin->Craiova->Budapest->Wien->Zürich
More scenic. Sofia-Vidin offers nice scenery and from Innsbruck to Zürich is also very nice.

Yeah, in general it works like that but it can be a bit risky.
better take D346 until Vienna. Change there to the direct train to Zürich (1 hour buffer)

better check on deutsche Bahn or öbb website the connection.
