@rvdborgt - Oh, I just used it for having the data by hand to do the manual entry. But realtime and changes would also be convenient indeed. (had the same experience in Italy - trenitalia app doesn’t show real time or delay, at least not very up-to-date info in the app)
As a note to @Schelte You can climb over the gates ;.)Just back from 8weeks travelling. (global pass)Our last stay was in Barcelona. We came from La tour de Carol using the R3 (rodalies). Our appartment was close to Barcelona Sagrera - la meridiana, a stop on the R3. The QR code didn’t work (says invalid), no one responds on the button (we pushed it at least 10 times) for help at the gates, so we climbed over (we are with 2 so hadn’t left our bags on 1 side alone) the gates. (so if you really need help you’ve got a serious problem)Last day in B - we did the same at Sagr-mer to enter, to get of in Barcelona arc de triomphe. To get in there later that day: at that moment there was a Renfe-employee. He first asked us to use the QR code (which obviously didn’t work) and then let us through. At the airport there were no gates. And add those trips manually to your trip Btw: renfe has an app with all rodalies /Rlines schedules in it. This worked quite well (Rodalies de Catalunya)
@rvdborgt - I haven’t asked explicitly but I do think for the part Vilnius- Mockava a seat reservation is mandatory. We went to the train station the day before we had to take the train and paid EUR 5 per person for the seat reservation. The lady was very kind and made a print (instead of the normal receipt for domestic travel) of the reservation. In the train we were asked to show it. And the way they asked, I think if we hadn’t one, they would have made a problem of it. Make sure you write down the destination - the lady heard Warsaw instead of Krakow (due to my prononcation I guess;.) ) so we had the reservation to W. But because I also had the reservation for the Polish part, this wasn’t a problem for us. We had a 1st class pass - but the train Vilnius - Mockava has only 2nd class (and is quite a cramped seating, little space for big luggage but friendly personal - they came to explain the delay in person. ) And for the part M-Poland you have a reservation but no seat number. So
I noticed the same problem thing when added the trip in the app for our trip Krakow-Budapest (nighttrain) last week. Same “change” in Bohumin. For us it wasn’t a real issue because we have an 2months continues pass. But I was wondering how this would work when you have a pass with a limited travel days and could solve it. Indeed no factual change - the wagons and locs are doing an exchange of routes and coupling / decoupling but you can stay in your (booked) bed.
To Make Reservations in Greece via Email I don’t want to mess up this overview, but don’t see another way than replying in this topic - So you may delete my remark and add it it to the original post Thanks for your explanation. So I followed the steps (little change in website; there are 2 forms now: generaal info and complaints) and got an answer back: Unfortunately I can’t make reservations this way. I have to do it locally at the train station. So we will see next week - I hope I can do at least all my reservations at 1 place
Thanks for your input. I did ask Polrail for a quote for this traject: they could offer the reservation (already before 30 days before travelogue) but charged over 10EUR a person which I think was relatively expensive compare to normal price ticket. So I took the chance to wait until we are in Vilnius. But not a complete 100% gamble: I made an online reservation for the Polish part of the traject (Trakiszki to Krakau which cost 1 zlty per seat). So for the Lithuanian part we will see what will happen.
Hi, regarding departures after April 2:this was the ferry we were planning to take so I checked with grimaldi: “ Dear Madam/Sir, we are traveling through Europe in April/May 2023 and 1 of our plans was to take a ferry from Patras to Brindisi. When I was looking at the website I could only find a schedule until April 2.Does this mean there is no ferry in May between Patras and Brindisi? Or it is just not possible to book yet and are the tickets yet to be released? Thanks for your reply. Kind regards,” The ANSWER I got was:Good morning, i confirm that we don’t have departures to Patrasso in May, the last departure will be 02/04 So I googled again and found the Patras- Bari ferry - with Anek/superfast. (but perhaps plans will change anyway - since the severe train accident between Thess. and Athens, I’’m not sure if we will do Greece. I do not know how quick connection has been restored and/or the Greek railway company will provide alternative bus connection on a part of this route)
Thank you so much for this tip about polrail. → I think this should included in the list with alternative booking ways. I just made a reservation for the nighttrain Krakow-Budapest for April 28 with them. We have to pick up tickets in Krakau (zlt 30) (alternative: send with UPS to our home but this would cost half the price of the reservation themselves) so will have to see if everything will be ok. At first I tried to make this seat (actually bed) reservation through the Interrail website. I got this connection in the results but when try to book I got the message “prices unavailable”. On the OBB site I got “ticket not available” (also not for earlier dates and I first check without Interrail discount/if normal tickets are available)I think they are also usefull for the Vilnius-Krakow route about I asked a question on the forum. If this turns out to be helpful, I will answer my question by myself there.
