From the PDF that @thibcabe posted, it seems the border point is Igel, and that’s the end of the validity of the Deutschlandticket. So if that’s the border point, is the Luxembourg free travel valid from there, or do you have to buy a ticket between Igel-Wasserbilling? The border tariff point is Igel(Gr), which is different from Igel station. No additional ticket is needed to travel to Luxembourg. So it means with a Deutschland-Ticket, you don’t need to buy extra ticket any more to Luxembourg? Is this correct?
Here's the map from DB website : https://www.bahn.de/faq/deutschlandticket-verkehrsmittel-ausland Thanks! Seems no direct train to luxembourg.
All travel (2nd class) is free in Luxemboug anyway, so the Deutschlandticket will carry you to the border, and the free travel after that. I found an interesting blog here about border travel with the ticket, but I can’t guarantee that it’s 100% correct. https://boredinmunich.com/travel-abroad-with-the-deutschlandticket/#take-the-deutschlandticket-to-luxembourg Yeah, I have read some similar posts, still not 100% sure if this is correct or not. Thanks !
Yes the validity works by calendar months and you generally must cancel before the 10th day of the month to avoid paying the next one. So if you were to buy it now, you’d have to pay 2 x 49€ for a ticket valid from now until 31st January. I haven’t found an operator offering later cancellation but happy to be proven wrong. Thanks!
There are 2 interesting Deutschlandticket sources I've used: HVV using the HVV Switch app. You can choose the start date and then you only pay for the remaining part of the month. If you order before the 10th of the month, then you can also still cancel by the end of the same month and you have a Deutschlandticket for only part of a month. E.g. I have one for 22-31 Dec. for €16.11. When I ordered in September, they didn’t accept non-German credits cards or direct debit from non-German back accounts (which I'm pretty sure is illegal within the SEPA area) but they do accept Paypal. Mopla allows you to cancel a Deutschlandticket until 24 hours before the end of the month. So you can still order a Deutschlandticket now and cancel it, so you don't have one for January anymore. You'll still have to pay for the whole month of December. They accept non-German credit cards. I haven't (yet) seen the combination of the 2: pay part of the month and cancel after the 9th of the month, but you can'
Yes as long as you travel with your Chinese (or another) passport you're fine. You are not considered a resident of Germany for the pass and you have a non-EU passport anyway so all good. Cool. I see. Thanks a lot!
A short term visa of a month, doesn’t make you a resident of Germany. So it’s possible to get a German rail pass, even a very good idea. Enjoy your travels! Thanks! Even if I have already lived in Germany for more than 1 month, I can still buy the German Rail Pass because I am officially not a resident of Germany. Is that correct?
