Every station has a minimum connection time, planners will usually default to show the shortest valid journey that complies with that. If you want extra connection time then it is often possible to add this but the SNCF app is pretty crap so I don’t believe it offers much advanced options. If you are on a pass then just make a reservation for the Strasbourg - Paris leg and take whichever train from Colmar you prefer, they are non reservation trains anyway. Thank you for letting me know this - and thank you for all of your help across all of my questions on here!!
10 minutes in Strasbourg is fine. But if you're thinking about leaving at 6:44, the you can also take the direct TGV from Colmar at 6:38. I didn’t even realize there WERE direct trains to Paris out of Colmar - that’s a game changer!! Thank you so much for all of your help, across all of my many questions on this site. This has been the most logistically complicated trip I’ve planned and being unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the train system has been a challenge. I really appreciate you and AI_G always coming to the rescue!!
Also, if you have a pass, there's nothing to book on the NS website, since your pass is your ticket and no supplement or reservation is needed. hello! was following this post as i have the same question as original post. what do you mean by pass on this post? thank you so much! If it’s helpful to you/you’re in the same spot I was - I see Eurostar just released times for trains out of Amsterdam to Brussels that weekend.
Just posting an update here in case anyone stumbles on this thread - they did just recently release times but I can see the route is a bit longer than the usual, so I am guessing there is track work and they are routing around it.
Thank you to both of you!You both answered questions for me on another post I did initially about Eurostar service and I just wanted to say thank you for being so helpful on this site and for answering my questions!
Thank you so much! This is extremely helpful!!
Schedules aren't confirmed yet, likely due to works yes. I'd say that Eurostar are unlikely to run but you should avoid them in the first place anyway : 27€ mandatory reservation for such a short journey. The IC is hourly and reservation-free. Simply show a bit early, hop on and sit wherever you want. Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate the insight.Am I able to take luggage on the IC?
It would help to know the exact dates but I cannot see anything currently scheduled for April, it is possible they have some works in planning so availability of schedules on those dates are currently not released. Either way Eurostar reservations for Amsterdam - Brussels are expensive and quota controlled for passholders, there are hourly IC Direct services which require no reservation or extra fee, they are a bit slower though. If the high speed line is blocked on your dates then there will be alternatives, either the ICD will be rerouted or you may need to connect somewhere. Thank you for your response! It is for April 20 and 21. Do you think if those dates aren’t showing by now I can assume they will not be available and should opt for the hourly IC?How would I go about catching an IC? I admittedly need to do more reading on all of this.
