If you have to test or not changes weekly bestway ist to check the Website of reopen.eu or even better the individual Foreign and/or Tourist Ministery Websites of the countries. The website is actually reopen.europa.eu; it is a good starting point, with further links to the relevant national websites. I'm not sure in how far tourist travel to the EU is already allowed again and in any case, every country has its own requirements because health care is a national competency. Some allow it, but as you now can read in news papers, the delta variation is spreading and for example german tourists are now heading back home, because of the situation in Portugal. Norway is still closed for tourists, the UK have high numbers. It's best to check the national websites of the countrys and decide then what to do.
What about the new EU-wide Covid status registry? Are non-EU travelers entered in the registry when they first arrive in the EU? Don't know if I got the meaning right, but there is no general registry for all of europe, that every county can make searches in. You can get an QR Code and with some apps you can create your own digital vaccination pass. Or a paper one that you get from your doctor or pharmacys. With them you can vaildate that you are vaccinated(believe you have to show this in every country). Don't know how a citizen from the US could get it...maybe you can check what your health ministry is saying on there official website or some from the EU?
For some reason Oslo - Stockholm goes actually no direct trains :/ If you wanna go by train you have to go via Gothenborg/ Göteborg Thanks! I assumed it would then show me, that I have to change trains im Göteborg.... I will check tomorrow again...
Interesenting that you have problems with the app, I can type in destination and departure etc. but it doesn't show results. Thought first that it's maybe because of covid....will reinstall the app and try again. Which Route did you look for? The Railplanner is not always up to date as every Railcompany have it´s own procedure to connect foreign apps with their timetables. As Backup i recommend the Scotty App of ÖBB or the DB Navigator to find connections I searched for Oslo S to Stockolm Central. A reinstall didn't change it. But the DB App can't show it either (Stockholm, Kopenhagen worked on DB). Other try would be a norwegian website, maybe it's really because data is missing.

You really encouragement me, and I think I will try to do some longer train rides as well. There is a lot of kilometres to go from Rhineland to Denmark and then Sweden and then to Norway and back.
6-10 hrs will get me far, and not necessarily bored on a normal day! Most memorably are my 12-24 hrs. journeys through the continent. While it's a long time and entertainment eventually runs out , there's certainly a thrill of silently rolling by sleeping cities in foreign places, and their awakenings the following day being purely imaginary. After a ride this long you'll always find yourself somewhere entirely different from your starting point, and the adventures lined up once you disembark is what makes me want to do it again! Thats true. The excitment of me drove my friends nuts on the way to Vienna. 😊 But it's really nice to see all the different things and maybe new citys passing by. But I don't plan to go over night (at least at this point).
@seawulf The Rhinevalley between Mainz/ Koblenz/ Bonn is really really beautiful, thats true. I used to travel there a lot, when I moved for my first job.😊
Thank you Mattheas!I don't know yet, if there will be a great view, but interesting what you can tell from your expierence.
Hello!A few things about me: I'm now 32 years old, from the beautiful region around Cologne and can't deny that I'm from the Rhineland because my glass is always half full and I like to take obsticles with humor. So far I only visited Vienna and Amsterdam by train, but would love to change this. My possible route will be Denmark, Sweden and Norway at the next chance. My goal is to not use a plane at this trip.I enjoyed visiting Scotland, Ireland, Czech Republic and England, they are my favourite countrys so far. 😊In my spare time I read a lot, watch movies or series and like cooking/ baking.
