Yes, that’s what I mean! So just to make sure I understand, even if the countdown ends, the ticket is still valid, only I would need to open it again? And I’m sorry, but what do you mean by the ticket getting checked? Thanks so much! I mean “checked by the ticket man/woman on the train”.i don’t remember this timer. Why don’t you open it now, let the timer expire, and then try opening it again?

Do you mean the ticket with the qr code at the top and the journey details underneath? If so you open it every time your ticket gets checked. If it times out just open it again (need to put in your phone password or fingerprint)

Seat reservations nightjet Zurich - Zagreb; Eurail website says not required

I’m looking to book this for 23rd from Zagreb arriving Zurich 24th. I can’t see the option to get Interrail discounts though (and as implied above the “seat only” option doesn’t work or is full). All I can see is the full fare for €89.

Can't book Kosice to Sibiu

They can’t sell any except ec189, the first leg, in Kosice station, which is not required anyway. I’ve managed to book IC582 only on the MAV Hungarian site. I’m absolutely at my wits’ end as to what to do about the final (long) leg — MAV only offers “seat only” for domestic journeys, and Romanian rail doesn’t offer “seat only” at all. Both websites are happy to sell my a full-price ticket, so should I just do that? I won’t have time to buy tickets in Miskolc or Szolnok. Or, shall I just get on the final train without a reservation and hope for the best?

Can't book Kosice to Sibiu

Thanks both. It’s EC189 from kosice to Miskolc, then IC582 within Hungary to szolnok, then IR75 to Sibiu. Connections are tight (12 and 13 minutes) so no time to book en route.Thanks for the steelworks tip — I’ll check it out.

Fontainebleau

It was only €5 from Gare du Nord to Fonty so I just bought that.But actually there was no platform entry control onto the R line (transilien) from Gare de Lyon, so if the interrail card is valid there's no need for the franchise

Eurail, Interrail or My Interrail for UK resident?

Not sure if this is a wind-up, but anyway: interrail is for people resident in Europe, eg EU, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, UK, Switzerland. Eurail for those resident outside Europe.

I generally use the DB planner (or DB Navigator app). The most up to date though will be the national planners. I just noticed that the IC trains on this route do have mandatory reservation in second class. The reservation for it seems to default to a normal ticket though. The fast trains (R - Rýchlik) don't, as I wrote before.   Ah OK so a reservation is only mandatory for IR pass holders in the same circumstances that it’s mandatory for someone buying an ordinary ticket? The IC and R trains on the above route are reservable through the SK website, but only for the upcoming few days, I have now discovered. After that they are “sold out” (which I take to mean “not on sale yet”).The R train reservation works as expected: 1 EUR for a reservation only, 18 EUR for a ticket with (free?) reservation. The IC train is the same price (24 EUR) for *either* a ticket complete with reservation *or* a reservation which is only valid with an accompanying paid-for ticket, which seems a bit counter-in

Unless you're travelling 1st class, reservations are optional on the fast trains Bratislava - Košice. The app is wrong (again). Please don't use it to plan. It shouldn't be a problem to get a reservation for these fast trains a day in advance. Thanks -- that’s very helpful :)I understand that the app and the Interrail reservation website are not the right places to get up-to-date timetable info. But where should one go to find out if a reservation is necessary for a given journey (other than this useful board)?

Trips in Slovakia and Poland

I want to go from Bratislava to Kosice on the 13th July but it says “prices unavailable” (same message as Abdul is getting). I have also tried to purchase “reservation only” on the Slovak railway site -- it says the reservations are only 1 euro (or in one case an eye-watering 24 EUR!), but they are all sold out. This seems unlikely, since there are 3 weeks to go and I see from @mcadv ‘s post above that the reservations only open 30 days ahead i.e. last week. In fact, there are no seats available on any date I try, including 29 and 30 days from today. There’s actually an “occupancy” tab which shows that there are no seats, no places for bikes, no nothing!The Eurail reservation system (though not the SK rail website) shows some connections which don’t require reservations, but these take almost 12 hours to complete the journey -- double the time of the direct service.So should I just put the itinerary on my pass, get on the direct train and assume that reservations aren’t really needed?

You don’t make reservations on the app. You have to go to a website like interrail.eu or some other train website. So, no, you don’t need to activate your pass to buy reservations. You do that before getting on the train (or activate in advance, but if so you activate with effect from the first train date).(They use the word “activate” wrongly on Interrail I think really. “Activate” is not something you can do in advance, in English)

Impossibility to acess the app due to IOS 13.0

Yes I was also contacted and refund is being processed. Quite a relief to get all this sorted in the end 😅 Fingers crossed the app will keep working for a while for anyone with older phones! They've just updated the conditions of use to a minimum requirement of iOS 13. Android 6 is still unchanged. Oh dear, I was going to use my iPad Air but I can’t upgrade it to iOS 13 and I’ve just activated the pass. How easy is it to move it to my phone? Or can I exchange it for a paper pass?

Yes you can buy reservations on interrail.eu website before activating the pass. You can’t buy the reservations in the app anyway — the two processes are separate. I bought my Eurostar reservation in March, but I only just received my new passport, so I activated the pass just now, for July (the date of my Eurostar reservation).It’s really confusing...
