Attempted to purchase a paper Global Pass on the Eurail website. Delivery for the paper pass is not until October 2. Our Travel isnt until early December, however, I have two trains that will require a reservation, and would like to do that before the paper ticket arrives, as I dont want to find out later there are no seats available for passholders. My question is if I go ahead and purchase the paper ticket now, with delivery much later, can I get the required pass number to go ahead with my reservations? I really do not want to get a mobile pass. I do understand some folks have had good luck with it, and some not so much. Just prefer the paper. Thanks in advance
This is an update for those in the United States who have or will order a Eurail Global paper pass.Eurail shipped the pass to the United States in a very timely fashion after the order. It arrived in the United States on August 11. Here is where it encountered a significant delay in U.S. Customs. I recieved notification on August 26th that the parcel had cleared customs, and now is in the U.S. Postal system, which means another 4-5 days before arrival. Total transit time in this country will be 18-19 days.So my lesson learned is plan ahead early. I am still a couple of months from my travel date, and I am very glad I ordered early.Hope this helps if you are in a similar situation.
I have purchased 2 Global paper pass, and am still awaiting delivery in the United States. Apparently the shipment is still in U.S. Customs and has been there for nearly 2 weeks. I am still a couple of months from traveling but just trying to my due diligence in case this pass doesnt show up. I did a search on this site, and it appears several people have had major delays in recieving the paper passes due to issues with U.S. Customs/Post Office.When I recieved confirmation of the purchase of my Global paper pass I recieved pass cover numbers so I could go ahead and reserve seats. I have done that. Used the Belgian Rail site and purchased a reservation on Eurostar from London to Paris, and on the TGV from Paris to Colmar, Fr, I have printed hard copies of the reservations.If my paper passes do not arrive in time, I may be forced to purchase a Mobile Pass, and then try and process a refund for the paper passes I have not recieved.
