I often use the ÖBB map of sleeper services - which covers their own trains and some Euronight services, but notably misses SNCF and Trenitalia.I was searching online for a more comprehensive map, and found this - an interactive map of all the sleepers in Europe, including details on frequency, timing, operator. It’s a great piece of work.https://nachtzugkarte.de/en/I’m sure it will be a useful resource. Apologies if already posted somewhere.
According to Seat61, the Berner Oberland Bahn is now accepting Eurail/ Interrail passes. (It previously only gave a 25% discount).Great news if true 👍Interlaken to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen. Now fully covered.https://x.com/seatsixtyone/status/1734137475222716892?s=46
Earlier this year I was travelling Brussels to Chamonix. I was planning on leaving Brussels at 0823 on ICE13, via Cologne - Basel - Martigny - Vallorcine, to arrive that evening into Chamonix. On day of departure, the ICE was cancelled. The next departure to Cologne was a Thalys an hour later. I paid €25 for a reservation, and could still get to Chamonix that evening. Then my ICE from Cologne was delayed, missing my connection at Mannheim, and I wouldn’t be able to get to Chamonix that day by train. So I diverted instead to Geneva airport, where I took a shared bus transfer for €50.Eurail gave me a €20 refund for the delay, but that didn't cover my extra costs. (I mentioned the Thalys expense, but not the bus cost)Should I have done things differently? Should I have let myself get stranded in Vallorcine, then somebody would have paid (or reimbursed me) for a hotel or taxi? Or is it just tough luck?It would be useful to know for the future.
Hi all,I have a flight arriving at Paris Orly airport next week, and looking at a TGV to Lyon. The first is TGV 5316, departing from Massy Palaiseau Grande Ceinture, and the second is TGV 5320, departing Massy TGV.As far as I can tell, these are part of the same station complex, and I can get the Orlyval to Antony then RER to reach them. (Or a cab!) Is that right? The French do love their long, complicated station names.
Me asking a question instead of answering one!I will be using an Interrail Switzerland Pass, and I want to go from Zurich - Milan on EC313.Is Chiasso the final station of validity of the pass, so I’d buy Chiasso - Milan?Similarly, if I take EC53 from Bern - Milan instead, I’d have to buy a ticket Brig - Milan?
I’ve just been ticket checked on a Railjet between Innsbruck & Kufstein.Sitting in First Class (not Business) with a first class pass. The guard insisted I should have paid a supplement of €15 for any Railjet journey. He said he’d let me off, since it was a short journey.I’m pretty sure he’s wrong, and the supplement only applies in Business Class? Or has something changed recently?
Is anyone aware of trains running from Ploče to Mostar? On zfbh.ba, I can see services starting in Bosnia, at Čapljina. But nothing extending to Ploče or Metkovic. Just a bus.I’ve seen reference that there might be weekend services running, but I can’t find any proof.
