My wife and I have purchased the Eurail Global Flexi First class pass. And because of the excellent guidance on this forum, I was able to make my reservations on the OBB app, except for two connections, which I was told I need to wait until 60 days before departure to make the reservations (per the agent when I called SBB). So, when the due date arrived (-60 days), I tried to make the reservations and am failing to do so. I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue. Here are the two journeys I am trying to make:Saturday, 23rd March 2024 morning: Zurich HB to Zermatt. The connection is thru Visp and the first train is an IC train and per the SBB agent, I can make reservations on IC trains, but not on Regional Trains. But, when I try the first segment (InterCity 1304 @7:16AM), and select “Seat Reservation Only”, the SBB app says “Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a reservation for this connection”. I called SBB and the agent was confused as he was seeing the same at his end. He s
I was trying to book a reservation using our Eurail Global Flexi First Class passes. And here is what I tried in sequence:On the SBB app, it shows the route and the train I want, but the booking fails when I select “Reservation only”. Called SBB call center and the agent said that the app/website doesn’t support purchasing “reservation only”. She can help me with that. After the laborious process of giving our names, DOB, credit card details, with seat selection that she was able to, the payment failed twice - both for Visa and Amex cards. The agent said that she has seen this issue with “non-European credit cards”. So I went back to the excellent “Seat 61” website and the advice there was to use OBB or Interrail. Tried Interrail, but here it asks for the “place and country of birth”. I just don’t understand the relevance of such info and the price was Euro 13 per passenger plus a service fee. And no way to select specific seats (like window seats facing each other). Tried the OBB app
I have done the following so far:On the Rail Planner mobile app, I created two identical trips (one each for me and my wife) Created each segment of travel as individual “journeys” and then linked them under these two trips Made one reservation on the OBB mobile app (didn’t realize I should have mentioned that I have the Global pass under discounts section) and so I was charged 13 Euros per head - fees towards my education, I guess! After understanding it a bit better with the help of others on this forum, I made two other reservations on the OBB mobile app using the Eurail Global Pass (first class) and wasn’t charged any reservation fees. What’s the next step? How do I let my Flexi global passes know that I have used up 2 of the 7 days of travel? How do I link this information? When should I activate the pass? Can I activate the passes online or do I need to visit a train station? I will be in Paris a month before the first travel date and if I have to activate it, can I do it at one o
Thank you in advance for a solution to my question. We have done train travel in many countries with/without passes, but this is my first time booking with Eurail Global pass (Flexi 7 days in one month). So, I must be doing something incredibly stupid. I have always used Trainline app to buy tickets in Spain and Italy earlier.I have two of the Eurail First class global passes (my wife and I), downloaded the Rail planner app, created two identical trips (one for each of us), connected the passes (not activated as yet), created multiple journeys under the trips. I couldn’t figure out how to use the info I stored in the trips/journeys to the Interrail reservation system the app takes you to. So, anyway I created a trip for one of my journeys (Milano central to Vienna Wien). Interrail shows the one transfer thru Venezia Mestre and when I choose that and try to book, it asks me for my “country and city of birth”, and doesn’t ask for my passport details. My country of birth is different from
