Having seen how difficult it is to get to Lisbon from Madrid has anybody tried Madrid to Seville then 3 hrs bus ride to Faro?Regular trains then to Lisbon take about 3hrs.
As a resident of the UK I appreciate an Interrail Global pass allows one day usage from the UK and one back. However as we live in the north that would entail an early start to London and then an afternoon Eurostar to Paris/Brussels. Although theoretically a further jump on an evening TGV or ICE could be achieved, that is not appealing. So we plan to utilise “cheap” flights to connect with continental rail points. It seems somewhat expensive with Eurostar and TGV booking fees. With a 10 day in 2 months first class pass we plan to split it into 2 trips. One flying to Catania, a couple of nights in Syracuse, train to Salerno, next day to Bologna for 2 nights, then through alps to Nuremberg for a few nights then back via Brussels. The second, 4 weeks later, is planned as flight to Nice for 2 nights in Monaco/Beausoleil, across to Venice for 2 nights, through the Alps to Vienna for a couple of days. Then on to Prague for a couple of nights before a flight home. Are these realistic itineraries?
I have just joined the community and see that there is an issue with interrail passes that were supposedly automatically extended to August this year, but are now showing as expired. I realised yesterday (18/05) that my passes had also disappeared as I prepared to use them in a few weeks time. I have contacted interrail but, like others, have only received the automatic reply that they are very busy.Has anybody yet succeeded in getting their passes revived yet. I have tried the “solutions” suggested in earlier posts with Zero success.
At last after 2 years we get to use our pass.Plans made moths ago reservations via IR, Oebb and DB as soon as available and app tested and disabled until today.Flew to Catania from UK and 2 nights in Syracuse. Printout of reservation for 1010 for Syracuse to Salerno in hand and passes activated. Journey added from trip.We boarded and set off on time. Ticket inspector scanned passes and looked a bit lost. Came back with colleague and asked to see tickets again. Started to reopen app and then he saw the reservation printout on tableImmediate calm and off they went.Highlight was the last boat train crossing in Europe.8 hours plus and arrived bang on time.
A few weeks ago I think I saw a reply that you can now transfer an activated pass without requesting a reset from Customer Services. Is old age setting in and I am imagining things?
