I am planning on travelling first class round Europe on a first class Eurail pass. In the first class area on most European rail service, can you see out the window on both sides of the train, or do I sit in a compartment where I can only see out one window on one side of the train?

Some countries still have some compartment stock, especially in 1st class but most are now open coaches.

Mainly it is the more Eastern countries that still retain hauled trains with corridor coaches primarily on IC services.

You can see seat layouts for trains on many operator websites and some enthusiast sites have extensive details on train formation
