UK Access to platform / gates

Hello community,

We currently are planning to travel to the UK in summer. When going by train on regular tickets over there I remember there are machines for the  access to the platforms. The regular ticket usually has got to be put into a slot and the turnstile would open so one can get to the platform.

How does that work with the EURAIL Global Pass?

Thanks Frank

There have been some reports recently of passes finally working on UK gates. Many stations now have gates installed with optical scanners for barcode tickets, if scanners don’t exist or your pass won’t work then you just show your pass to the gate attendant. In UK it is required to have the gatelines manned and if not then they should be left open. A very small number, mostly side entrances in stations with multiple entrances, are closed and unmanned but set up for remote monitoring with a call button for anyone needing access.

Heraus genau so.
