Hello,

I would like to do a trip with the following destinations.

  • Home (inside Germany)
  • Hamburg
  • Stockholm
  • Abisko

My plan would be to travel to Hamburg and from there to use the nighttrain to Stockholm on the same day. In the next stage I would travel from Stockholm to Abisko using another nighttrain.

My problem is that I find the rules regarding the travel inside the home country quite confusing.

The frequently asked questions states that you are allow to take 2 rides, one to leave and one to return to the home county. Meanwhile here on the community discussions I hear a lot of people talk about 2 travel days.

  1. So am I allowed to take multiple trains from my local train station to leave the country?
  2. If it is indeed 2 travel days to leave the country and return back home, are the a part of the travel days mentioned on the pass or additional.

Another question I have is about the seat reservations for the nighttrains. Can i book them from interrail directly, and how accurate are the prices listed in the interrail app? (it shows private sleep compartment for only 74€ while it is over 200€ on the SJ website)

When you use an inbound/outbound "supplememt" you can board as many trains as you'd like in your country of residence. Hope it's clearer.

These in/out days are part of your number of days, not extra ones.

The Stockholm - Abisko is now operated by SJ rather than VY and prices changed a lot.
