Due to a national strike, no domestic trains will operate in the Netherlands on Friday, June 6, 2025, except for a limited shuttle between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central.

Update on June 6 strike:

NS expect that international trains can continue to run, except for Eurocity Direct:

  • Between Amsterdam Centraal and Schiphol Airport, there will be a reduced train service.
  • International trains are only available to passengers travelling abroad and not to passengers travelling between Dutch stations.

Update on further strikes announced by the unions:

  • Tuesday, 10 June 2025: Strike expanded to nationwide.
  • Thursday, 12 June 2025: Strike called off - trains will run as normal.

There may also be a strike on on June 16 and 17. NS will run an adjusted timetable outside affected regions on strike days.

For more information on the disruptions and access to the adjusted timetables for these days, please visit NS' designated disruption page.

Delay compensation: Interrail & Eurail travellers with an activated travel day on any of the affected strike dates might request compensation on Interrail or Eurail delay compensation page.

Tuesday's strike has been expanded and will impact the entire country again: All NS domestic trains will likely not run. The impact on international trains and the shuttle service between Amsterdam and Schiphol airport will be announced tomorrow.

Other train companies than NS in the Netherlands, like Arriva, are not on strike.
That means from Germany or Belgium you can still reach places in the south like Maastricht and Nijmegen, Arnhem in de east, Enschede and Zwolle further north, and Leeuwarden and Groningen (with replacement bus) in the very north.
The different networks are not connected however. If you really need to travel from Maastricht to Groningen for instance, you need to make a big detour via Germany.
