Hi,

We have a Global Eurail pass and will be traveling from Amsterdam to Bruges the day AFTER Kings Day. We expect a lot more “traffic” than usual on the trains that day. The website says “You’re ready to board” without a reservation, but a friend who recently returned from Europe said that they had a few occasions where were turned away on the day due to the train being full, despite the website saying no reservation was required.

It is possible, or advised, that we pay for a reservation “just in case”? Or are we being silly?

If reservations are recommended, how do I do this under the circumstances.

Thank you soooo much in advance.

You can’t even do a reservation for this. So there’s nothing to think about. And no need to worry. Amsterdam is the first station. Just hop on the train.

There’s nothing special about that day. You can expect ordinary saturday traffic and crowds.

Take the train a bit earlier if you want to travel more quietly.

Indeed, only looked to the Kings Day date. I don’t think it’ll be busier than another sunday, lots of people will be hung over in bed ;)
