We have a group of 4 traveling 1st class (2 couples).  We purchased our passes but the other couple hasn’t yet.  Does it help with allowing the 4 of us to sit together if we purchase the other their passes under our account so all 4 of us will be on the same account?  Or can they buy their own, and can we all 4 still get reservations to sit together?  Thanks.

On trains that require a seat reservation, you can just make all 4 reservations at the same time (for most of the booking sites it doesn’t matter if you have a pass at the time of purchase. You will only be asked to show your pass when you’re already on the train.) You will usually be sat together. You should be able to confirm this once you get the seat numbers.

If your train does not require a reservation, you’ll just have to find any empty seats that suit you.

If you have questions about certain trains/reservations, please give us the date, time and route.

How you purchase the passes make no difference.

What you need is to just make the bookings at once for everyone, and if possible the systems will give adjacent seats.

Here's a guide with the best place to book seat reservations:

The Eurail website has a 2€ booking fee per person per train so it quickly adds up. Always best to book through the railway companies.
