Hey all! I’m in love with traveling Europe via train instead of plane, but I have a trickier route for work this time!
I want to travel from Berlin to Istanbul and back (preferably different routes), and I believe the train from Sofia to Istanbul is open again!
Do you have any suggestions of routes to take, and any advice for this big a trip? (probably will stay in a couple of hostels on the way there and on the way back).

Ja, stimmt-nur im Sommer-und das ist also auch der einzige Hinweg: uber alt Yugoslavija geht nicht-muss via HU+RO. was also heisst das rück gleicher Fahrweg ist.

Willste NUR im Zug dahin und ohne viele Umwege-dann ist ein Pass zu teuer-kaufe dann am geschicksten Unterwegs Billette. Und die typisch DE Angst für die ´Fahrgastrechte´ kann mann auch ja viel besser vergessen-die gibt es an sich ja, im praxis nicht.
Der Zug Sofia - Istanbul fährt ganzjährig :)
Aktuell geht es am einfachsten über Wien/Budapest - Bucharest - Istanbul (im Sommer gibt es einen direkten Kurswagen Bucharest - Istanbul) man kann auch Sofia zwischendurch einbinden.
Retourempfehlung wäre denn Istanbul - Sofia - Craiova - Rumänien - Budapest/Wien.
da es aktuell keine direkt Züge Sofia - Belgrade, belgrade - Zagreb, Belgrade - Budapest gibt.
