For a mobile pass, there's no need to buy it a long time in advance. Prices (in euro) will normally remain the same until the end of the year. There may be a promotional offer with a 10-15% discount, so you could just wait and see if there's one between now and September. Subscribe to the Eurail newsletter to be informed when there's an offer.
