Hi!At the moment there are no trains between Norway and Sweden.According to this answer(s) on twitter there also won’t be any in July:For August it is not yet sure…Other options are taking a ferry from Denmark/Germany to Norway or taking a bus (not included in Interrail) from Sweden to Norway...
Hi!Depends on what distance is ok for you for a daytrip, but I’d recommend you to go to Jelenia Gora by train and from there you can take a bus to Karpacz from where you can hike up to Sniezka/Snezka - the highest Czech mountain. Depending on how quick you are and also on the timetable, it can be possible to go down on the Czech side (Pec pod Snezkou) and then make your way back from that side, but you should check the timetables in advance! A good source including buses on Czech side is https://idos.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusymhdvse/spojeni , for the Polish side check out https://en.e-podroznik.pl/Between Wroclaw and Jelenia Gora the town of Walbrzych is also worth a stopover. There is a nice castle that you could visit.I am sure there are also several other options for hiking. Just described one trip that I did (although in the other direction - from Czech Republic to Poland).Enjoy your trip ;-)
If you catch a panoramic train you might have to pay a small supplement. In the ticket office in Locarno they told me that I could pay it on board… but then I had a “non-panoramic” train and didn’t have to pay :D.
Well, either that or buy a one-way ticket to Brenner/Brennero at the Austrian/Italian border via bahn.de (from Amsterdam)I checked now and found some tickets for 49,9 euro for mid July… so depending on your dates, that might be a solution.About switching I don’t know… sorry, but maybe someone from the Interrail team can answer you on that.
Hi Martijn,do you have only an One Country Pass for Italy? If yes, then the trip from your home country to Italy is not included in your pass I suppose and that’s why you get this message.
Hi Jordan, yes, Frecciargento is just the brand of one of those trains. There are also Frecciarossa, Frecciabianca brands. You can use all of them. Reservation is 10 euro for each of them. It is also possible to use InterCity trains (more slow), reservation for InterCity trains costs 3 euro. Actually I like the InterCity ones more as you see more interesting routes. E.g. Florence-Bologna high-speed rail consists almost only of tunnels and feels more like a metro ride ;-)About reservations: you can do it through the Interrail/Eurail App (but I think they take a fee). Or you can buy it on arrival at one of the ticket offices in Italy, there you don’t pay any service fee but just the standard reservation price as quoted above. At the moment only 50% of the seats are sold for fast trains, so on weekends (Fr-Sun) some trains may sell out in advance. On other dates it is no problem to catch spontaneously a reservation as there are still not so many tourists around as before Corona. If you buy
Hi Jordan, yes, but you have to make an reservation in advance. It will cost you 10 euro (2nd class).Enjoy Italy ;)
Oh ok, with that one I have unfortunately no experience.. if you are not super fixed on one connection I’d try to buy it when you get there ;-) In case it is sold out, you should still be able to find an alternative connection (except on Sundays maybe)
May I ask on which platform did you try to buy tickets? In earlier years there were only some contingents available for Interrail for TGV but I think this is not the case anymore.
In that case might be that the train is fully booked or not yet open for bookings (e.g. because of construction works and adapted timetables). Did you check on trenitalia.com and sncf.com if there are still standard tickets available on the connection you want to make a reservation? In Italy they sell only 50% of the tickets at the moment, so on weekends many connections sell out some days in advance.
Hey!For which country and train did you try?
Hi, as far as I know there’s no discount on ferries from Turkey to Greece (only for some inland ferries in Greece). But so or so at the moment ferries between Turkey and Greece are either not operating or only taking trucks on them (and no touristic passengers). And keep in mind that also the train from Sofia to Istanbul is suspended until further notice (last summer did not operate at all!).
Hi Emma,I am planning to be travel in Italy by Interrail 19th-25th June and sent you a PM with my planned route.Martin
