Thanks again !
Thanks, Anna, yes i will deactivate it shortly. I just want to play with it a bit and show my wife how to use it.Follow-up question:I was wondering: is there any harm in clicking Show Ticket and generating a QR code just to see how it works? I haven’t dared so far, in case it’s something you can’t undo and have to use within 24 hours or something like that.
Thanks Thibcabe, it’s all clear now.
Thanks, lads.Ralderton: this toggling business is clearly something i need to get to grips with! Grateful for the heads up.Well spotted Hektor ! But the thing is, the train from Hungary (we’ll be joining it at Balatonszentgyörgy) only costs 11€ each, so we might just pay the normal fare on that so as not to forfeit the travel day if we miss the connection. All part of the complicated calculations… none of which would have necessary if ZSSK hadn’t canceled the down train from Bratislava that we were all set up to join in Celje, after a nice afternoon visiting the castle there.Mice, men, etc.
Thanks Anna. Nobody told me - least of all my booking data. When i booked it, there were 3 departures from Paris every week.I’m still waiting for a reply from ÖBB, I can take a TGV to Strasbourg for an extra 12€, but will they have kept my sleeper? I doubt it. It would have been nice if they had informed me about the change.
edit : not NT 1821 from Bratislava to Split (via Cilje) but EN 1153
Update (@Hektor in particular): ZSSK have stopped displaying the NT1821 on their own site now except on Wednesdays… so something’s up. This runs contrary to what they told me themselves in a very kind email they sent just 4 days ago. It was listed for Friday June 7th four days ago and now it isn’t. Pfff.
Interesting answers from all, many thanks.Rvdborgt: I would love it if Croatian railways were prepared to put us up for the night - but as you say, one can only wonder how that might work! Do they take responsibility for the IC 204 from Budapest to Zagreb arriving on time? Wouldn’t they just say we should have arrived by the morning train instead? There’s one sure way to find out… !Hektor: You’re right. ZSSK themselves sent me the timetable (with a link to ÖBB for reservations) and it was there sure enough (for June 7th)… and then the next day it wasn’t. Which makes me more than a bit cagey, as our IR trip starts with Paris-Berlin on ÖBB’s NightJet on Thursday 16th May —all booked up— but now (i read in the press) that train only departs on Saturdays, instead of 3 times a week. And sure enough, it’s no longer listed. I contacted ÖBB 3 days ago. Still no reply. But as you say, the NT 1821 is a Slovak train, so whether ÖBB lists it or not shouldn’t have any bearing.I miss the big red Tho
I am now officially unfurious. My apologies to any Interrail staff who felt slighted. All the same… maybe that message needs to be reworded? IDK, maybe “¨Prices for this journey usually become available 90 (or some other figure) days before departure - but check with the company that runs the train”.Still struggling to make other reservations, in Central Europe (having wrongly assumed the 90-day limit would apply more generally) but fingers crossed.
Thanks (again!) rvdborgt! On oebb.at, when i try to make a seat reservation (for March, by way of a test) i just get “Ticket not available”.But entering the exact same criteria on nightjet.com i do get availability up to 21 March, which looks very hopeful.BTW how did you know it can be booked until 21 March? Does it say so somewhere, or on some other site, or did you just find out by trial and error? Whichever, thanks for your encouraging answer.
Thanks Thibcabe. I did notice some availability in March, but very sparse. I assumed it just meant there wasn’t as much demand for March as there is for the warmer months. There’s nothing in April - and that’s within the 90-day window. As you suggest, i’ll keep checking, but this is taking all the pleasure out of planning. Update: i was using the Interrail booking site and ÖBB.at. On nightjet.com, things do indeed seem rosier until 21 March (for the time being). Many thanks again.
Six months later and the Eurail/interrail site is STILL displaying that erroneous message.I just posted a question on this very topic, and now i see that the mistake is old, was recognised, and NOTHING WHATSOEVER has been done to correct it.It has RUINED our Interrail plans.RichardM76 was very polite to be deeply unhappy. I am furious. This is not acceptable.Enc.: result of search for 14 May, made just now (31 jan).
Update and resolution: as expected, no exchange without a refund to the original purchaser. Thanks again for your kind and rapid answers.
Thanks everybody. I’ve contacted Eurail directly as you suggest.@ralderton Good question. I was toying with the idea of swapping for 2 x 1-month passes for me & the missus plus a third for our daughter to use at some later date. I doubt that it will be feasible, and we’ll be fine with the 2-monther, maybe doing it in two legs with a period back home in between.
