How do trips work?

Hi!
I’m going from Stockholm to Hamburg. Then I’ll take a new train from Hamburg to Paris. Continue after a few days in Paris to Montpellier. Do I create a new trip for each part, or do I add the following parts to my original trip? How does it work? I mean can I connect many trips to my global pass, or can I just have one trip connected?

You can only link 1 trip to your pass. All trains you will use during the validity of your pass will go into that trip.
