Ticket validation in Italy + recommendations

Hi, I’ve heard that in Italy (and elsewhere) you must validate your ticket unless you risk a fine of €200. How do we go about doing this with a mobile ticket or is our ticket already validated?

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to travel to after visiting Florence? We plan on going to Salzburg or Vienna soon after but want to travel to one more place in Italy or even another country before we embark to Austria.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Ticket validation is only needed for Paper tickets and passes (in Italy). It needs a stamp from a certain machine before travelling.

You don’t have this problem on mobile passes, if you correctly register your journeys and have added these to a pass just before boarding the train. If you have generated the QR-code, you have an active an valid ticket :).

And that only for the classic paper tickets issued in Italy without validity period.
