Interrail German pass from France

Emilian Biteau

I'm wondering if the Interrail German pass include the trip from my departure country (France), so I can join Germany with it as well as my back journey without paying extras.

Is it the free pass from the French & German governments offer ? Then yes it includes the journey from your home.

Otherwise a one-country pass does not include the journey from/to France.

It might be worth getting a Global Pass as the price difference is not big and TGVs are often expensive... btw you can get free seat reservations for domestic TGVs by going to any SNCF ticket counter (otherwise it's 10-20€). Ask for a Billet parcours d'approche. It doesn't work on Thalys and probably not on direct TGV/ICE to Stuttgart or Frankfurt. However you can take any TGV to Strasbourg and then cross the border using a regional train.

Yes I got the free pass offered by governments, also I want to go with someone that don't have this pass, so the global pass is more suited for it, it's good to know thank you for your advice !
