Going to the UK but I don't have a passport yet. Is a national ID card enough to purchase a Pass?

I am from the Netherlands and want to go to Scotland this summer and I want to purchase my Interrail-pass today. However, I don't have a passport yet (I will in a few weeks), I just have a national ID-card. Can I enter my ID-number for the Interrail-pass, and bring my ID with me to confirm that it is me? (And of course also bring my passport.)

You should be fine with using your national ID.
