where to sit in non mandatory reservation trains

Eliott Marceau

Hello,

I’m asking myself where to sit in non mandatory reservation trains. I have no seat number attributed because the reservation is not mandatory, but it seems like other passengers have sit reservations so I’m wondering where to sit so I don’t take there seats.
in my case, I’m travelling through Czeck Republic, Germany, Danemark, Sweden and Norway.

thank you !

Many people won’t have attributed seats. When they’re not required, every passenger needs to pay extra if they want one. Seat reservations are not possible on regional trains so simply sit anywhere you’d like. On trains with optional reservations there will either be a paper tag (seat 61 : Praha - Brno), a small screen or nothing.

Between Germany and Denmark definitely book a seat on the direct IC : they’re very popular so you’ll stand otherwise.

Norwegian trains often require seat reservations so please double-check (use the chat function on entur.no). Fast Swedish trains too (X2000).
