seat reservations Rome - Viena

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi, Where can I buy seat reservations for this trains ?

Best answer by thibcabe

On tickets.oebb.at : add Eurail as a discount and select one-way tickets (no booking fee). You’ll surely have to split the booking :

  • Roma Termini - Venezia Mestre 13€ seat reservation
  • Venezia Mestre - Wien Hbf 10€ Tarvisio supplement + 3€ optional (but recommended) seat reservation

There is a night train which might interest you as it is a long journey. Due to engineering works it doesn’t run this summer via Rome so you’ll have to board it at Bologna. Check couchettes or sleepers prices on tickets.oebb.at too

Let us know if something doesn’t work, mentioning your travel date.

Hi, you can reserve it via Austrian Railways ÖBB.

go to tickets.oebb.at and look for Rome to Venice one time and book it and then for Venice to Vienna.

You select the route and click on one way ticket option. Add Interrail/Eurail as discount card.

Frecciarossa cost reservation: 13€

Railjet supplement for Italy 10€ + 3€ for the reservation (optional)

You can book Venice-Vienna on cd.cz (add the Eurail discount) and then you get the reservation for free.

Use nightjet.com for a clearer overview : add Eurail as a discount.

Night trains are very popular so they can sell out weeks in advance.

- Rome 20:17 - Vienna 08:52 : only seats for 13.50€ left (not recommended)

Alternative :

- Roma Termini - Verona Porta Nuova 18:50 - 22:08 (or earlier) 13€ seat reservation

- Verona Porta Nuova - Vienna 22:58 - 08:52 52€ sleeper

Option 2 :

- Roma Termini - Venezia Mestre 16:35 - 20:23

- Venezia Mestre - Vienna 21:17 - 07:58 32€ couchette or 51€ sleeper

You could also leave Rome earlier and spend a few hours in Venice (or Verona - option 1) ! :)

Nightjets often do not run at weekend from/to Rome due to works on the line. Same this summer for all days. More information on nightjet.com

I have one question. Why won't it let me reserve a seat on some trains in Italy? If I do that I am going to buy a ticket there are places but if I only want to reserve a seat "no ticket avaliable" and this train from Rome to Bolzone is empty

You need do to 2 bookings, ÖBB can't handle multiple trains : first Rome - Bologna and then Bologna - Bolzano for example.

REX regional trains : seat reservations not possible
