Strike Information

Where do I go to see the latest information in English of news of the German train strikes should they go ahead and how that affects trains. We have several trains to catch through Germany in the next 3 days.

No strikes have been announced yet. An announcement would usually come 48 hours in advance.

Shortly after an announcement, DB will put up a message on their website, with more details here:

https://www.bahn.de/service/fahrplaene/aktuell

For any information in German, just use Google Translate or DeepL.

I heard there were going to be negotiations tomorrow so travel should be fine at least until after that.

Current Status is that the DBB (the GDL Union is part of it) have on 8&9th January their anual meeting. The leader of GDL gave because of that the promise they wont strike on these days.

Last Friday German Rail made an offer and asked for negotations on Wednesday. If GDL strikes or not is not 100% clear (they already striked while they still negotate in the past)

GDL Leader gave the promise (they doesnt have to) to announce a strike 48hrs in advance.
