Error and Price Increase When Booking Nightjet OBB from Budapest to Berlin for August 2025

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking assistance with an issue I've been experiencing while trying to book four tickets on the Nightjet (EuroNight) train from Budapest to Berlin for August 5, 2025. Each time I attempt to purchase the tickets and click on the "Pay" button, I encounter the following error message before even entering my credit card details:

"This option is no longer valid. (NJ-Code: NJ-01, TS-Code: WBS19230, Public ID: c76596267a8e4469a657b5ccb1f6798d, Support ID: NIGHT1_53po52eo)"

Moreover, with each failed attempt, the ticket price increases significantly. Initially, the fare was €64 per ticket, but it has now escalated to over €130 per ticket, and I'm still unable to complete the purchase.

I have also attempted to book tickets for August 4, 2025, but encountered the same issue. When selecting the credit card payment option, the error occurs before I can enter my payment details, and the ticket prices increase. I tried purchasing through other websites; although the payment was initially accepted, it was subsequently refunded.

I'm now hesitant to continue attempting the purchase, as each failed attempt results in a price increase.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues or have any insights on how to resolve this problem? Could this be related to the fact that the Nightjet service is operated in cooperation with partner railways, and the booking systems might differ?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Do you have a Eurail pass? You only need to buy reservations.

Regarding standard tickets I see following prices on nightjet.com:

  • 536€ (134€ pp) for 4 couchettes in a 6 people compartment (sharing with strangers)
  • 576€ (144€ pp) for 4 couchettes in a 4 people compartment (fully private)

For 4th August:

  • 376€ (94€ pp) for 4 couchettes in a 6 people compartment (sharing with strangers)
  • 416€ (104€ pp) for 4 couchettes in a 4 people compartment (fully private)

The Hungarian website MÁV has different prices. 5th August:

  • 456€ (114€ pp)
  • 496€ (124€ pp)

4th August:

  • 216€ (54€ pp)
  • 256€ (64€ pp)

August is peak season. I wouldn’t expect prices to go down.
