Where to go

I’m planning a summer (July & August) interrailing trip. So far we have Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Vienna, Budapest and then we wanted to visit Split, Ljubljana and maybe Venice. Split seems quite hard to get to and from. We don’t mind visiting Zagreb but would we have to do this on the way there and back? Is there a sleeper train from Budapest to Split? How would you suggest we visit these places and is there anywhere else we should visit nearby?

There’s sleepers from Split to Vienna/ Bratislava & Budapest. You don’t have to stop in Zagreb. There’s also plenty of ferries between Italy and Croatia (not included in the pass)

My advice in July and August is to try to avoid the crowds in the hotspots, and spend more time in the less well-traveled destinations.
