Hi there,

I'm unclear on the rules about outbound journeys. I have a global pass for one month. I plan to leave Glasgow and travel to the Hague as the first stop on my trip. The trouble is, i planned to take the overnight train from Glasgow which leaves at 23.40 on the first day of travel. I then plan to wake up in London and take the eurostar on to bruxelles at 09.10.

I'm worried that I would use up my outbound travel day on the 23.40 train and then not be able to travel from London across the border the next day.

Do I need to make the outbound journey to cross the border all in one travel day (0.00-23.00)?

Thanks.

Doing the outbound journey this way will cost 2 outbound days. If you have a mobile pass, really want to use that night train and would also need an inbound to get back, then contact customer service to ask for an extra outbound day. They might give one.

Yes, departure time of the train is what counts for the day. So departing Glasgow at 2340, you use a day, and departing on the Eurostar you use another day.

It’s quite easy to reach The Hague in a single travel day - whether on the direct Eurostar to Rotterdam, or changing at Brussels.

It’s worth remembering that this works in your favour on the return journey: you can travel halfway across the continent, get an evening Eurostar, and then board the sleeper to Scotland - all in one travel day.

Thanks. I asked then for an extra outbound journey and it got added to my pass ! So that's brilliant
