Timetable on the rail planner shows ‘not available to passholders’ (doesn't even show the train unless prompted) but train cancelled because booked with a rail pass on Eurail. What does this mean? Many thanks.

If it’s a direct Intercity, your pass will be valid on it. You need to pay a reservation fee of €3. Is that what you paid at Rail Europe?
Sometimes the results show an itinerary where you get off the train in Villa San Giovanni and take the fast ferry across to Sicily - because this is often quicker then waiting for them to load the train onto the slow ferry. In that case, the fast ferry isn’t included.
