Amsterdam to London - boarding time in between at Rotterdam Centraal

Hi there,

I am trying to book a direct train from Amsterdam to London using the Eurail pass. I can see that the train stops at Rotterdam Centraal and has a half hour gap between the IC train and the Eurostar train. 

My concern is at the Boarding Time section, it says that check in closes at Rotterdam 30mins before the train leaves, and says to make sure you have 45-60mins for security and passport control. On the Eurail website it says there is 35mins in between but the IC arrives at 4:36PM and Eurostar leaves at 5:28PM, which is actually around 60mins. Is anyone able to explain and clarify whether it is 35mins or if it is 60mins (allowing for the passport check and all)?

Boarding closes about 30 min before departure, 45-60 min is the perfect time. Otherwise you'll just have to wait longer in the small waiting room

Does that mean that Eurail already accounts for the 45-60min possible wait?

Yea it does. Check-in closes 30mins before departure, so in a normal case it will be fine.

Also note that no supplement is needed between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The website is wrong here.

I will ask internally, cause in this case @Jodie Teo is travelling abroad, but still using the IC as a domestic journey between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. I am afraid that a supplement will be needed.

Regarding the confusion of the 35 minutes which are indeed 52, this issue is already forwarded to the App team.

I'm quite sure it isn't needed. I've asked NS to update their page about it. I'll let you know if and when they've done that.

I've also noticed that the supplement has come back in the app for all journeys that include Rotterdam-Schiphol with an IC Direct. That is incorrect of course. It should at least be deleted for international journeys: we agreed that there's no supplement is that case.

NS have updated their website now, even sooner than I had expected. It now says you don't need to pay a supplement for the IC Direct if you have an international ticket, such as Interrail or Eurail:

For now on the Dutch page only, but English will probably follow.

The supplement has already disappeared from the rail planner app (again), but could you please also remove it here:

I've received some updates recently. The supplement on IC direct train only applies for the route between Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam. This information is also explained on the NS site you attached previously.

However, the relevant team still needs to correct the information for international trains, cause they still show the need of a supplement. I'll keep you in touch when there's any other updates released.
